Pennsylvania author Lynne Dempsey is the award-winning author of the TAKE THE DOG OUT series (Readers' Favorite 2014 Gold Medal Winner and a 2014 USA Best Book Award-Winning Finalist) and she is assisted her by the excellent illustrator Mandy Newhan-Cobb.
This book is about learning the different colors. A variety of children are out picking flowers, finding flowers of red, yellow, orange, green (actually grass), brown (a bug), blue (with a spider), purple, and white. They encounter a puff remnant of a dandelion, blow and the pieces make the children sneeze and itch, but they continue to have a great time on their outing with colors - enjoying a picnic with a flower centerpiece - and the nature friendly caterpillars etc join in the fun, too.
In addition to learning the colors, every page has a hidden dog bone for the children to search for and find. And at the end the children are asked to read the words designating the colors as well as the other words used in the story.
Fun, artistic, and a terrific learning tool for the lucky children who have this book. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, June 15

This is a cute book. The illustrations are nice, not the weird-looking computer created creatures I've seen in so many of the less expensive books. The story is short, but fun and kept my kid's attention.
