It was a gripping story and I kept turning pages. I wanted to give it 5 stars, but for the numerous problems on the way: (1) There is a lot of blah..blah, almost half the book, so I turned the pages when I came across them; (2) The case of the poor waitress who was targeted to be killed, refusing to accept cash and a new identity was baffling indeed (only happens in books, I suppose. I would take the money and retire. I could be like Mitt Romney paying at a paltry 13% tax rate); SPOILER ALERT starts about here:(3)Five girls have been murdered at a fast pace, but the heroine refuses to help the FBI; (4) The heroine gets lost in the woods with an FBI agent, while the killer is on the loose, in close proximity, stalking them. But what do they do, start a fire while waiting to be rescued. The agent not only goes to sleep, But he even gets involved with the girl right in front of the killer, who was staking them out all along; (5) Her Ex- is in jail and she hadn't been with anyone since her divorce, but she is still on the pill; and finally, (6) The FBI agent is surprised from behind, while zeroing in on the killer, who is holed up with the heroine with the clock ticking!Well, I guess I should get paid for pointing this all out!

Again I must tell you I already reviewed this book. I enjoyed Jennifer Hayden's story but cannot tell you more. She is a talented wrier. I have read several books since this one and my mind is a blank.
This story was great. I loved the storyline and the characters involved. The book was dead on point without a lot of fillers. The suspense kept my interest throughput the book. I have found a new author and I can't wait to read more from Jennifer Hayden. This was my first purchase of one of her books, but not my last!
Just love jennifer hayden books. Her male characters get me in every time but must say Shane my favourite. I give five stars because wonderful storyline and characters. I will always choose Jennifer's books when available.
This author captured my attention with the first sentence. I knew I was hooked for the duration. Her writing was easy reading and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was somewhat puzzled by the part in the woods. I thought they would never get out. Like the other reviewer I didn't understand the sex in the woods part either, especially with a psychotic killer on their tail. I loved the book and would refer it to my friends.This book surely establishes this author in my eyes as someone to be reckoned with. I applaud you.
Interesting plot, great suspense, nice flow to the story and the characters were likeable (except there were times when Annie was a bit annoying.. especially when they were stuck in the woods and she kept going on and on about the killer catching them). Got caught up in the suspense and couldn't put the story away.. had to read it til the end. There were a few tearjerker moments, especially after the truth comes out. Definitely recommended!!
This is the second book by Jennifer Hayden I have read. I rated both of them 5 stars which I do not do often. The book opens with a child waking up to the sound of screaming. She was frightened but she had her little dog (Buster) to hold on to. As dogs will do, he started barking incessantly, jumped off the bed and ran out the open bedroom door toward the noise and screaming. She (Annie) ran after him, grabbed him and ran back to her room and hid in her closet to get away from the monsters. She was scared but thought she was safe until she saw a silhouette from the light in the hallway. A man was coming into her room and then...... The bad thing about this book is if you start reading it in the early evening, you probably won't get much sleep because you won't want to put the book down until you finish it.
I've been on a huge Jennifer Hayden kick lately, and I've loved them all - until this one. Other reviewers have pointed out the most glaring issues, from the h not wanting to help the FBI to the H being caught unaware by the killer at the most crucial moment. The mystery in this book is a good one; like all JH mysteries the killer is someone you'd never expect. My biggest problem is with the romance between the h and H. I just didn't buy it. At all. Not once, through the whole book. I like a HEA as much as anyone, but I didn't like this one. The reconcilation at the end was lackluster, I didn't buy either of their proclamations, and it just seemed like JH had to wrap it up and get to the finish line.
Ms. Hayden has a true gift for storytelling, but every author falls short now and then. For me, I'm on to her next book, and looking forward to it.
