It is the stories of Sheila Webb Pierson's foundation that scream AUTHENTIC. A 4th generation "farm girl" who wants to "climb the corporate ladder" -- opens her heart in this easy to read format how she blended farm and corporate training. One of my favorite story was about "Ralph - the redneck golfer" and that lesson learned. Thanks Sheila for being real.

Leadership books can be on the dull side, not this one! Sheila Webb Pierson shares simple truths learned as a child in a very humorous way. As a southern gal myself, this brings to mind the adage, "plain talk is plain understood". The poignant stories of her father's life lessons make it a great read for everyone.
This book was recommended to me from a friend and was a good call. The book has many good principles and presents those principles in a fun and easy way of understanding. The stories from her life paint a warm picture and a great example of how these principles can lead you to becoming a very successful leader that people will respect and trust. It seems like these principles are getting harder and harder to find in leaders so I highly recommend this book to anyone that is looking to improve their leadership skills. It is a double feature of good knowledge along with fun stories.
There are only two groups of people who will enjoy reading this book—those of us who grew up on a farm and those who did not. The former sometimes will feel like they are reading their own diary. The latter will cherish tales about what they missed while growing up. The humorous and insightful stories about lessons learned in this little book end with the biggest lesson author Sheila Webb Pierson learned from her father.
I read the last part of the book while alone in a dentist’s chair waiting for a new crown to be sculpted. I was glad to be alone when tears rolled down my cheeks as the last chapter came to an end. My farmer-teacher father was much like the author’s farmer-teacher father, but that is all I will say here.
The best leadership book I have read in decades!! I am an Executive Coach. I research and read this stuff for a living, but I have to say that Sheila has knocked it out of the park. It's a quick read. I couldn't put it down. Maybe it's because, having grown up on a small farm, participated in FFA, had an incredibly influential Ag teacher in my life, I relate so well. The truth is few people can tell these stories quite like Sheila. I can actually visualize and enter the experience of her stories. And that is the mark of a true story teller. And the leadership application is invaluable. Influence = Be Proud of Where you Came From + Admit Mistakes + Communicate + Laugh at Yourself + Serve Others. All I can say is buy this book, read it. Read it to your colleagues. Then read it to your kids. Thanks for sharing with us the lessons you have learned in so many delightful ways. I hope there are more to come.

Couldn't put it down. Many of the colloquialisms used reminded me of my grandfather who was my mentor for much of my early career.
