Alex Harris thinks finding a place to celebrate her one-year anniversary sounds like a good idea, but when her husband arrests her sister for murder she has some serious thoughts about staying married to the guy! Her sister Samantha is clearly keeping a secret and refuses to give the police an alibi, but when she asks Alex to help solve the crime and clear her name, Alex is only too happy to jump in and prove her husband wrong. And then the police turn their attention to Samantha’s husband—another suspect with no alibi.
Could her sister or brother-in-law really have killed a local building inspector over his refusal to pass their new sunroom addition? Alex doesn’t think so and sets her sights on several others who had more than a good reason to nail the guy.
Something sinister is going on in this coastal New England town where the bodies seem to be piling up.
Nailed An Alex Harris Mystery The Alex Harris Mysteries Book 8 edition by Elaine Macko Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
The beginning of this book is a stunner! Alex Harris is ready for a divorce. What? She and John have only been married for a year! However, a big time developer has been murdered and Alex’s husband thinks his sister-in-law might have committed the crime. Alex is stunned that her husband could even consider his sister-in-law responsible for such a crime. Yes, her sister knew the victim. Yes, her sister and victim had exchanged words. But murder? Samantha could never commit murder! Still, someone killed the guy and as Alex investigates she finds the list of suspects is long.I’ve read all of Elaine Macko’s ‘Alex Harris’ mysteries and I’ve enjoyed every one of them. Nailed is no exception. This is a first rate cozy. The setting is a small town on the coast of Connecticut and is so well drafted that I could drive down the streets and feel at home. The characters are so familiar they seem like family. Then, there’s the story. The cleverly written Who-Done-It. Elaine Mack creates a puzzle that’s both intricate and simple at the same time. The clues are right out there for the reader to see, but inserted in such a way that they are overlooked until the story’s climatic reveal. Then, it’s fun to sit back and think about how I actually picked up on the clues and how I should have been able to put them together, but I didn’t. But, oh, how I loved the challenge. Great book, great characters, very well written and a whole lot of fun!

Nailed An Alex Harris Mystery The Alex Harris Mysteries Book 8 edition by Elaine Macko Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Alex nailed it again! Thanks Elaine!
Elaine Macko brings humor and mystery with her novels and each one in her Alex Harris series only gets better. Nailed was a great read and highly recommended to all mystery readers!!
I have enjoyed all the Alex Harris mysteries, including this latest. I did notice several typos in this book. Perhaps a different publisher? Not a big deal, but the previous books were cleaner, as I remember. Looking forward to the next book.
Once again she incorporated many suspects, and kept you guessing to the very end. I love reading Elaine's books. They are, for me a quick read that keep my interest and are a great break, like a tall glass of refreshing iced tea. Thank Elaine for the pleasure of reading another one of your books. Always enjoy.
Ms. Macko's book get better and better. I can't read one without anticipating the next. I feel I know the characters but there are always new ones. Great books to curl up and read, Thanks again Elaine.
This is the first mystery novel I have ever read. I decided to read the last book of the series first because I found the overall plot very intriguing. Coincidentally drinking a cup of hot earl grey tea, I started reading the first chapter on a Saturday morning. Alex Harris is the kind of woman you want to be friends with and look forward to their company. Everyday I wondered what would happen next and found myself wishing I was there visiting Meme too! I never expected who the killer was. This is a must read. I look forward to continuing on with the series.
This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom. ‘Nailed’ is a fun cozy mystery set in coastal Connecticut. The story is full of interesting characters and an interesting plot. It’s not too dark or thrilling but is a nice well written and well plotted story which provides a nice escape. While the main character, Alex, is investigating a local murder we find out so much about the residence of this (not so) sleepy little town that you’ll never be able to guess who the killer is until the end (or at least I couldn’t)! When I got this book I didn’t know that this was the 8th in the series, but thankfully you’re able to read it as a standalone book, but I think I want to go try some of other earlier ones in the series. I found ‘Nailed’ to be a fun, not too serious mystery that I really enjoyed!
