Like the talons of the title's namesake, this book snags you in quickly, deeply, right from the beginning. This isn't a genre that I typically read, but because it is set in the area of NW Montana where I reside, it piqued my interest, and it certainly did not disappoint.

I was drawn in from the first few words, and lost several nights of sleep... I just couldn't stop reading!

The authour did a great job researching and describing the mountainous wilderness where much of the action takes place. In fact, those very mountains are practically in my backyard.

After finishing "Shadow Dragon", I can't help but to look a little closer at the mountains now, as I peer out through my windows as the evening twilight falls.

That movement caught out the corner of my eye... was it really a dark, shadow gliding over that nearby peak?

It couldn't be... all of the creatures were confirmed destroyed.

It must be just my imagination... right?!

Great book!!
It reminded me a little of Dean Koontz, one of my favorite authors. It kept my attention throughout and I had a hard time putting it down.

I met Lance Horton at the horse races and he gave me his card I'm so glad he did.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It held my interest throughout (didn't skip over anything!). The Author did a fine job developing the characters and story.
Better than average for a monster/conspiracy theory novel. Nice characters and a well done plot. Occasional inconsistencies but overall excellent.
I would give this more stars for the story, but my digital version () has words missing at the ends of pages and chapters. The partial sentence on one page and continued on to the next page was not the end of the sentence. It would start something else entirely. Not happy about the quality of the download. I like the story.
This is a well-composed mystery, action, thriller. Even with supernatural and sci-fi elements, it is the characters' story that receives the focus. It has boots on the ground, or snow, as the case may be. It is easy to imagine Kyle Andrews as a new Special Agent for the FBI, continuing on his path. With all his neuroses and childhood wounds, he has some growing to do. Carrie Daniels is spunky enough to make the cut. Who knows? I could happen. But even just this one has action and romance enough. A worthy read.
I enjoyed this book thoroughly...First of all, I am partial to "monster" stories, and I am even more partial to them when they are believable.
The story was well presented, the writing was good and the characters stayed "in character", meaning everything they said and their behavior was in line with how that person would actually respond to the situation.
I was impressed with the writing...it was good, coherent,and believable. I noticed one of the other reviewers didn't like how the chapters were so short...but I actually liked it! it really added to the pacing of the story; the pacing was comfortable and satisfying.

If you like stories that are in a wilderness setting, with a really scary "monster", then definitely grab this book!
